The basic idea behind 'wear your wedding dress again 2009' was to hold a charity ball in Lincoln, with all possible proceeds to be donated to Cancer Research.  The initial premise was for the ball to allow us girls to take our wedding dresses out of 'moth-balls' and wear them again for the night, however, it has gathered momentum and is totally open to anyone to wear any dress or evening wear/ball gown/bridesmaid dress etc. Partners obviously welcome, with or without dresses. :-)

In 2009, we raised a fantastic total of £2500.00! for Cancer Research and in 2010, we raised another £2500.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support. In 2011, we raised money totalling £2750.00 across the two chosen charities!  Again in 2013 we raised £3000.00 for the Ingham cancer care suite, in Lincoln County Hospital.  In 2014 the ball was for the Ethan Maull 'up yours to Cancer' charity and we raised £3000.00. In 2015 we raised around £4000.00 for Lives emergency responders (Cheque presentation picture below).  Thanks go out to all the attendees, the people and companies who helped make the event a success.

We support women and girls who live or work in Lincolnshire, who are experiencing, have experienced or have been affected by any form of sexual violence at any point in their lives and are willing to engage in support/therapy relating to these experiences.

This includes: rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, incest, sexual domestic violence, trafficking and sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, ritual abuse, forced marriage, crimes in the name of honour, sexual intimidation, coercion or harassment, whether physical or verbal.

We provide support and information for women and girls through our helpline, email, one to one support sessions, group sessions, and counselling.

We listen and believe. We support women and girls to explore their thoughts, feelings and options. We are here to listen. We do not advise, direct or persuade women to take any particular course of action. We believe the woman is the best person to decide what is right for her, and we will support whatever she decides.

"We are delighted that we have been chosen as

the nominated Charity for the Wedding Dress

Ball this year. The team that arrange the ball

work so hard to support local charities and we couldn’t be anymore grateful for their support. Fundraising is a vital part of our work at Lincolnshire Rape Crisis and the proceeds

raised from the ball will go directly into

service delivery and will contribute to the

trauma recovery of Women and Girls that have experienced Sexual Violence. We look

forward to the event and based on its reputation

we expect it to be a night to remember.”
